Božena Augustinová (Czech, 1934–2010) “Rozplétánà / Unraveling,†1987Colour lithograph on wove paper | 33 × 21 cm (image)Edition 9/20 | pencil-signed, titled and numbered lower margin Trained at Prague’s famed Academy of Fine Arts, Božena Augustinová explored the lyrical side of post-war Czech printmaking and devoted her career to the expressive possibilities of multi-plate lithography. In “Unraveling†she presents a stylised, almost mythic female figure whose cascading hair dissolves into a curtain of ochre, sienna and bottle-green: her elongated heroine lets a torrent of hair dissolve into a cascade of ochres and deep greens, each tone laid down from a separate litho plate. The subtle wood-grain textures—created by scoring the litho stones with wire brushes - imbue the work a shimmer that shifts with the light and a tactile, sculptural, presence that belies its two dimensions. This impression, number 9 of just twenty worldwide, is pristine. The artist’s original pine frame and paper mat, however, are strictly utilitarian. We strongly recommend conservation re-framing to unlock the full depth of colour and safeguard the print for decades. This impression is number 9 in an edition of only twenty worldwide; far rarer than Augustinová’s usual runs. The sheet is flawless: no foxing, creases or fading. The frame, assembled by the artist late in her life, is pine with a stock paper mat and ordinary glass; they are strictly utilitarian. We strongly recommend re-framing to archival materials to fully safeguard the print and truly unlock its rich tonal depth. Limited Czech post-war prints of this calibre seldom leave Central Europe. At $315.00 CAD, “Unraveling†offers collectors an accessible entry into an upwardly mobile legacy market (Czech post-war print prices have risen 20-30 % since 2020) and, with new conservation framing, a genuine long-term advantage. Like what you see? Ageless Curations offers custom framing for all our art pieces: acid-free cotton rag mats, UV-protective museum glass, and a curated selection of mouldings that would complement Augustinová’s warm palette. Frederick A. Pawla (American, 1876-1964)“Serene Stream,†c. 1943Oil on board | 23.5 × 19 × 5 cm | Signed lower rightOriginal white-gessoed, gold-leaf dry-brushed frame This exquisite piece by Frederick A. Pawla, a distinguished American artist whose works gained recognition during the WWII era, captures a tranquil riverside scene bathed in dappled sunlight. Inherited directly from the original buyer, who purchased it firsthand from Pawla, this artwork remains in its original, intricately crafted solid wood frame, finished in white with delicate gold leaf dry brushing, underscoring its timeless elegance.Painted as the West Coast braced for wartime blackouts, “Serene Stream†glows with Pawla’s signature highlights and sweeping, calligraphic brushwork. The piece was purchased directly from the artist around 1946 after Pawla famously set up an impromptu studio on the Santa Cruz pier so returning sailors could watch him work. It was passed on to the collector's son until acquired by Ageless Curations in 2023.An amusing footnote: During that pier residency Pawla would trade quick oil studies for servicemen’s souvenirs; one such 20 cm × 15 cm study resurfaced at Swann Galleries in 2018 and hammered at $92,500 USD, a record for the artist in this size bracket. The upward trajectory of Pawla’s body of work has tripled since 2010, which positions this jewel-like "Serene Stream" as both a captivating accent piece and a highly prudent acquisition. Exclusively offered by Ageless Curations. Full condition and provenance report, and high-resolution images are available upon request.
R. Kinjinee “Study of Pallas Athena†Oil on canvas|50 x 59 x 2 cm |Signed lower right Artist Framed: wood with gold-colour dry brushingEvocative of the grandeur of ancient Greece, this original oil painting by R. Kinjinee offers a serene and noble profile of Pallas Athena, goddess of wisdom and the arts. Inspired by the timeless beauty of classical sculpture and 19th-century academic painting, Kinjinee’s study blends delicate contouring with a luminous, textured palette of golds and earth tones. The result is a striking artwork that radiates both strength and calm: ideal for anchoring a living room, study, or creative space. Though the artist’s biography remains something of a mystery, the work itself needs no introduction: Athena’s calm gaze and elegant features make this a piece that transcends trends, offering enduring decorative and symbolic value. Framed in wood with a gold-brushed finish, this painting is ready to hang and enjoy. Whether you’re seeking an original statement piece or a thoughtful gift for a lover of history, “Pallas Athena†delivers classical inspiration at an accessible price point. Offered exclusively by Ageless Curations. Full condition report and additional photographs available upon request.
